Expertenkreis Transformation der Automobilwirtschaf: Bringing Automated and Connected Driving to the Road

The automotive industry is of central importance for value creation, employment and innovation in Germany. Around 70 percent of the value creation in this branch of industry is generated by the primarily medium-sized supplier companies. The automotive industry is also of particular importance for many regions in Germany.

The industry is undergoing a long-term structural change driven by the electrification of the drive train as well as digitalisation, networking and automation. In order to achieve the goal of climate neutrality and to secure value creation, jobs and training places in Germany as an automotive location, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection has set up the Expert Group Transformation of the Automotive Industry. The expert group consists of 13 members who were appointed by Federal Minister Dr. Robert Habeck for the 20th legislative period.

The expert group on the transformation of the automotive industry is to develop target- and target-group-oriented recommendations for action for politics, business and society. The primary aim is to address the medium and long-term challenges facing the automotive industry. The aim is to develop a structural policy orientation for Germany as a location, geared towards the goal of climate neutrality, which covers the individual fields of action and takes the entire automotive value chain into account.
